Car Time with Madi...

After we drop Nick and Kaila off, Madi and I have about 10 minutes in the car together. We’re only on day 3 of school and she has had me cracking up every morning. Wednesday when I asked her how she knew something, she replied “Because I’m a smarty ass!” Well, I’ve come to the conclusion that she really meant smarty pants, but apparently it came out wrong.

A little ways down the road she then said that she didn’t like her name. I told her that I loved her name and that’s why I named her Madison. She replied, “Well, I want to be Emily.” Hmmm… We just left it that when she turns 18 she could change it then if she really wanted to. I’m pretty confident she’ll grow out of this one…I wanted to be Marie when I was in 1st grade I think? And Brad wanted to be Kyle for a while!! Too funny!

And then there was yesterday morning. I was starving and still feel a little scratchy sore throat so I immediately thought McDonald’s! I got my usual sausage mcmuffin (no egg) meal with a large Coke. She managed to get 1/3 of my mcmuffin and about ½ of my hash brown. I told her no way on the Coke! As we drove to school she announced, “Hey, I have an idea. How about nobody talks to me because I have a headache?” Um, OK, I guess I could do that considering I was the only one in the car! The funniest part is that SHE never shut up the rest of the way to school!!!

And yesterday was the day…she was clinging to my leg when it was time for me to go to work. She didn’t want to stay in the classroom. She didn’t cry as far as I know, but she wanted me to stay. One of the ladies helped me keep her in the classroom so I could escape. Of course I know she was fine as soon as I was out of site, but I felt like POOP as I left.
