Big Ole Bloggin' Night

Hold on to your hats fans, we have a big ole post comin' your way!

Where to begin? Hmmm...the beginning of the events, I suppose.

Today at work I was going through the mail, sorting away because Monday's always SUCK, and found a package addressed to me. Not your typical junk mail package either...it was a little thick, and it had me curious! Well, I opened it to find the following:

It's a letter from Rich DeVos, co-founder of Amway and owner of the Orlando Magic, personally addressed to me, saying that he read the article in the Cit Pat, said that I was setting a "marvelous example", and enclosed a copy of his latest book, "Hope From My Heart: Ten Lessons for Life." HOLY SMOKES!!! I was giddy, goofy, you name it. How cool is that? That made my afternoon!

When I got home the kids and Kyle had just arrived...with a dozen of the most beautiful roses EVER for Valentine's Day!!! I was surprised, we usually do something, but we are both so busy these days, there isn't a lot of extra time to spend doing things like that. Nicholas announced that when his Mom comes home, on the first Valentine's Day, he hopes he can buy his mom some flowers just like these...

Oh Nick, we will definitely make sure Mom gets roses when she comes home!

After dinner we went to Dad's where Nick and Kaila got to talk to Susan. They were so happy to talk to her, giggling and smiling like crazy! Susan made them Valentine's that they got over the weekend, and the kids filled her in on their Valentine cards and parties they are having tomorrow.

Once back home it was time for Nickster to get rollin' on homework. This kid has about an hour a night of homework...spelling words, worksheets, and math facts, plus reading. UGH! So we did all that, and then Nick wrote a thank you note to my co-workers that donated to him for Jump Rope for Heart (last Friday). It is SOOO cute :)

And last, but not least tonight, to get ready for Valentine's Day tomorrow, I made these pancakes tonight to have for breakfast. Seriously NO time in the morning, so making them tonight made the most sense. Kris, I don't know HOW I got along without the griddle, it is my best friend!!!

OK, so that's all the hot happenings from the Hamlin house today. I am going to go watch a movie and enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet before it's time for bed. And then to start this crazy thing all over again! Have a great night all!!!

Beautiful flowers...Kyle and the kids did well. I would like to get your autograph now, so when you are putting your handprint in the Hollywood star I can say "yeah, I used to scrap with her!"

a book and flowers, what a day! especially the recognition from Mr. Devos. It's really true that when you do special things people notice! I've known you were special for a long time, but I'm not near as impressive as Mr. Devoe. Keep up the good work-I marvel at your energy, although I did use to have a lot more when i was your age. Enjoy it as it won't last!

Luv
Karen
